On Wednesday, September 24th, Vesteplein in Delft will be the scene of Ukrainian art and culture. The heart of the day will be the modern dance performance “INdependent 24” by the Ukrainian International Ballet at Theater de Veste. In this impressive diptych by choreographers Richèl Wieles and Dmytro Borodai, Dutch and Ukrainian dancers will join forces to celebrate humanity, love, and compassion.
Performance about vulnerability and resilience
The first act, ” Project – Emotions,” tells the personal journey of war veteran Andriy Syromakha. The second act, ” DeHetÉén,” is an ode to the beauty of the Netherlands. With original music and a Q&A afterward, this promises to be an intense and inspiring evening of theater. Especially with the following beautiful prelude:
Documentary by Golden Calf winner Ditteke Mensink
At 6:45 PM, the documentary ” Vlucht Dans Leef” by Golden Calf winner Ditteke Mensink will be shown at Theater de Veste as a special prelude to the performance. The film shows how Ukrainian dancers found refuge in The Hague and together founded The United Ukrainian Ballet. Ticket holders can attend the dance performance for free. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Ukrainian activities at Vesteplein
