Hello! I’m Renée Tentori, the founder and editor of Delft Online. Delft has been part of my life for around twenty years. I first moved here from Australia in 2003, completed my Dutch integration journey here and received my Dutch citizenship at Delft City Hall in 2006.

Although I now live just over the border in Ypenburg, I work in Delft and remain closely connected with the city daily. It’s a special city and I’m proud to be a part of it.

As a dual national Dutch Australian, with Dutch as a second language, I understand how much difference accessible English-language information can make.

Delft Online grew from my wish to help more people discover Delft, understand what is happening here and feel part of the city. Through photography and writing articles, it also helps me feel more like I belong here. It began as a small project with my daughter in 2002, but is now growing into a much larger and valuable resource.

My connections with Delft

Over the years, my deeper connection with Delft has taken many different forms…

• The Hague University of Applied Sciences (Delft location): I am Professional Skills lecturer, Internship Coordinator and Student Coach in the Applied Computer Science Bachelor’s.
• Delft Mama: As one of the original board members in 2007, chairperson from 2021-22 and long term volunteer, I’m proud to see how this not for profit organisation still helps create connections between international families in Delft and the surrounding region.
• ACCESS: As a volunteer with the Welcome to Delft programme, I regularly welcome new residents and share practical insights about settling into the city at information sessions.
• TU Delft: in the past I have delivered “networking in the Netherlands” workshops at TU Delft with the Coming To Delft Service, to support international researchers and professionals and their partners.

I often describe myself as a bridge-builder: between Dutch and international residents, Delft and The Hague, education and society, and technology and people. This website is a part of that mission.

What you’ll find on Delft Online

Delft Online shares news, events, local stories and practical information in English for people who live, work or study in Delft – or who simply enjoy spending time here.

The aim is to complement the many excellent Dutch-language and official sources already available by making local information more easily accessible in English. As a long term international resident, I also focus on providing useful context and sharing personal experiences of the city.

You can expect to find:

• events and cultural activities;
• community news and local initiatives;
• practical information about life in Delft;
• stories about Delft’s people, places and history;
• experiences and recommendations from around the city.

Delft Online is a sister platform to The Hague Online, the independent English-language community platform that I also own and edit, which has been supporting internationals in the region, including Delft, for 21 years.

Together, the two websites reflect how closely connected Delft and The Hague are for many of us who live and work in the region while also giving each an independent platform.
