During the Van Hasselt Lecture on Wednesday, November 19, Studium Generale TU Delft will address themes such as ethics, peace, and justice in our technological age. German philosopher Lisa Herzog will address humans being controlled or replaced by AI and discuss the implications for our society.
In her lecture, she explores the perspective of workers who are guided or replaced by AI, a voice often missing from the debate about artificial intelligence. While much attention is focused on the creators of AI, the people who actually work with it are often seen as a cost rather than as valuable members of a creative community. Herzog discusses what working with and under AI means for pedagogy, community, meaning, and politics, and what choices we as citizens have regarding the use of this technology. It forces us to consider what work is worthwhile, for whom, by whom, and why.
Lisa Maria Herzog is a German philosopher and social scientist working at the intersection of political philosophy and economic theory.
The Van Hasselt Lecture is a joint initiative of the Values, Technology and Innovation department of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management and Studium Generale of TU Delft.
