Delft craftsmanship, technology and Formula 1 come together this weekend as Royal Delft presents a new collection of trophies for the final Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort.

For the fourth and final time, Royal Delft has created the official trophies for the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix. For this special edition, the Dutch Grand Prix and Royal Delft invited two Dutch creative talents to contribute to the collection: FashionTech designer Anouk Wipprecht and artist and innovator Don Diablo.

Wipprecht, who is from Delft and works at the intersection of fashion, technology and engineering, designed the winner’s trophy and the constructor’s trophy in collaboration with Royal Delft.

Her design combines the centuries-old tradition of Delft Blue ceramics with contemporary technology. Light technology has been incorporated into the Dutch lion and the number 1 on the trophies using a specially developed electroluminescent material. Its flexibility allowed it to be integrated directly into the ceramic design, making the elements appear to glow from within.

“For me, technology is most interesting when it is not only functional, but gives an object a new form of expression,” Wipprecht says. “In this trophy, I translate the dynamics of Formula 1 into light, transforming the traditional ceramic object into an interactive, almost living interface.” Anouk Wipprecht

The decoration also draws strongly on Royal Delft’s heritage. Delft Blue floral motifs appear fragmented across the surface like shards and are joined by gold lines inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi.

The constructor’s trophy takes inspiration from the historic Pijnacker decoration, using deep red, Delft Blue and gold accents as a reference to the Dutch flag. According to Royal Delft, the continuous gold lines represent the lasting memories created at Circuit Zandvoort.

Don Diablo designed the painted decoration for the second- and third-place trophies, bringing his own futuristic visual language into the Delft Blue tradition. His design begins at the base with a classic Delft Blue landscape of windmills, sailing ships and maritime elements, before gradually moving towards the hexagonal forms that regularly appear in his creative work.

The windmill also has a personal meaning for Don Diablo, whose real name is Don Pepijn Schipper. “The windmill in the design is a reference to my childhood in Drenthe, where I literally grew up next to a windmill. It is a nostalgic image that takes me back to my youth.”

Royal Delft describes the design as a bridge between past and future, combining its centuries-old tradition of landscape painting with Don Diablo’s contemporary visual style and chrome details.

All of the trophies are made from high-quality ceramic and are produced and painted entirely by hand by Royal Delft’s craftspeople and master painters at the company’s atelier in Delft.

The collaboration brings together several themes closely associated with Delft: traditional craftsmanship, design, engineering and technological innovation.

The winner’s trophy will be presented by King Willem-Alexander on Sunday 23 August on the podium at Circuit Zandvoort. It will be presented in the Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk, the official trophy case created by Formula 1 partner Louis Vuitton.

For Royal Delft, the trophies mark the conclusion of a four-year role at the Dutch Grand Prix. For Delft, they also provide an international showcase for a centuries-old local craft that continues to evolve through new technology and contemporary design.

About the Dutch Grand Prix

The Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix takes place at Circuit Zandvoort from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August 2026. This year’s event is being promoted as The Final Lap, marking the final Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

The weekend includes Formula 1 practice and Sprint Qualifying on Friday, the F1 Sprint and Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday, and the main Formula 1 race on Sunday. The Grand Prix starts at 15:00 on Sunday 23 August and will be raced over 72 laps of the 4.259-kilometre Circuit Zandvoort.

There are also F1 Academy and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup races throughout the weekend, together with a programme of live entertainment.
