Back for its third edition the Delft Film Festival brings six days filled with previews of the most beautiful, exciting, and surprising new films from the international festival circuit. In addition, the festival serves as the official opening for cinema Lumen’s new larger location at Van Leeuwenhoekpark.

The festival’s opening film will be the Cannes sensation Club Kid, the bold, sexy, and surprisingly touching debut from writer, director, and lead actor Jordan Firstman. He stars alongside Reggie Absolom, Cara Delevingne, and Diego Calva. A vibrant film about chosen families and growing up when you thought you were done with it long ago.

Besides new films, DEFF will also feature 10 timeless classics. In the theme of THE ROBOTS ARE COMING Lumen collaborated with TU Delft to bring science fiction monuments about humans, machines, and artificial intelligence, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, which will also feature a lecture by Martin Koolhoven on AI in film (in Dutch). And Metropolis will get a special live soundtrack by composer and Volkskrant journalist Kevin Toma.

On Halloween, you can really let loose with The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and the restored version of Ken Russell’s infamous The Devils.

THE ART OF SEEING, will focus on three artists who taught us to see differently: David Hockney, Yayoi Kusama, and Martin Parr. Three films about art, photography, imagination, and the people behind iconic images.

DEFF is much more than film: you don’t experience a festival just from your cinema seat. DEFF is packed with live music, talks, special guests, and collaborations.
